Bonjour!

Hey guys, what's up? I miss you all!  I have a few cool stories from this week so this email might get a little long. Sorry about that!

Ok, first story: We had lunch with a family in our ward after General Conference on Sunday! It was a Samoan family and they gave us an "authentic Samoan meal that you can only get on the Islands''. It's a good thing you can only get it on the Island, because it was bad! My companion and I both tried to eat it but it was pretty bad. It's called “Ulu" (breadfruit) and you dip it in coconut milk (it sounds a lot better than it is) and then to drink we had Coco Milk... which tasted like a cup of warm water with a bunch of cocoa powder in it. I don't recommend it! There is a reason God didn't send me to Samoa to serve my mission!

Second story: There is a man named John who is a student at BYU Hawaii who comes into the Visitor Center every 6 weeks and gets a new Book of Mormon. He always asks for the book in a new language and we have always just given it to him. He came in this week and we asked him why he wanted it in so many languages and he said that it's because he is learning all of those languages!! Turns out he speaks 14 languages fluently…WHAT!!! The way he learns the languages is by watching YouTube videos and reading the Book of Mormon. He told us "there is something remarkable when you use the Word of God to help you learn, instead of a textbook” . He told us that by the end of reading through the Book of Mormon he can normally speak that language fluently. I told him I knew "head, shoulders, knees, and toes" in French and he told me it was really good and that I should try learning French by reading the Book of Mormon. I guess you should wish me luck! I can barely read half the words in the Book of Mormon in English!

Final story: We had a lesson with a family in our ward this week. In the lesson, we talked about how we can build a firm foundation in our lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I pulled a Book of Mormon out of my bag and asked the little 5 year old boy if he knew what book it was. In the cutest little boy voice I heard him say “Heavenly Father”! I said good job and then the whole family started to laugh. Turns out he said “Harry Potter" and NOT “Heavenly Father". We also asked the little boy who Jesus was and he said “Aloha" which in Hawaiian actually means “love" and not “hello". Jesus is LOVE <3

Such a good week here in Hawaii! I am so grateful to be a part of such great work! General Conference was so awesome, I loved every bit of it. Send me your favorite talks!
