MAUI!!

You heard it right... I am now on Maui!! I was shocked when I found out that I would be leaving Laie. I never expected to leave the Visitor Center so soon, and I honestly didn't want to leave for a couple more transfers but obviously there is a reason I am here and I'm so excited to find out why. It's all about God's timing and not mine! We are over a YSA branch that covers the whole Island and a family ward that is in Waiehu (basically the middle of the Island). I was so nervous to leave the Visitor Center but everything has been so good, so far! My companion has been in this area for three transfers so she basically knows everyone. Something so funny about our ward is basically everyone is related and everyone knows everyone... oh and everyone lives together.  When my companion first got here in September she was one of the first sisters in this area in 40 years. Needless to say, people are still shocked when they see sister missionaries. I have already been called “E...

Fake Missionary Work

Hello everybody!! It was another good week, lots of member appointments which stands for some pretty good stories!      We were driving home from church Sunday when the cute tahitian couple in our ward called us and she was freaking out saying "were so sorry we didn't talk to you after church, will you please come back on Tuesday and meet with us?" It was so sweet. We were able to meet with them again on Tuesday and they seem to love it when we come over! He is definitely more comfortable speaking French but wants to learn to pray better in English. It's crazy being in a ward with so many doffernt people from all over because everyone speaks another language, and most people only know a little bit of English. Normally it's the missionaries trying to learn the language but it's the other way around here!      The next couple we met with was from China. They knew pretty good English though so that was great! When we walked in he has a brace on his wrist and w...

A Day In The Life!

Image
Please enjoy my journal entry from Thursday, I loved that day!      "Tonight as I was driving home I was thinking about all that had happened today and what the best parts were. I then thought,  "well it was a pretty basic day today, not much happened" but then I quickly realized that "isn't everyday like that?" It's so true! When I look through the perspective of "what did I do today?" Every single day is going to be pretty similar. You wake up at the same time, you do personal study, companionship study, meals, time with our members, and shifts at the visitor center and teaching center. It's the small things inside of your basic schedule that makes everyday different.      We were able to meet with the cutest Tahitian couple for lunch that just moved into our ward. We had frozen pizza made in a cake pan because they didn't have a flat pan with a nice big glass of sunny-d... oh and a bowl of oreos for dessert. They are both 19 years o...

New Year, New Mission, New Friends!

Hello everyone!! No email last week because we were #qUaRaNtInEd, but good news we are out now! The longest week of staying home but the work moves forward! New years was such a fun night. Everyone here loves their fireworks. Holiday or not, morning or night there are always fireworks and New Years was no different. The whole sky was lit up with fireworks from about 10pm-4am. It felt like the volcano was going to erupt!!      While we were quarantined we did lots of online finding. One day I got a message from a man named Ivan who messaged comeuntochrist.org looking for local missionaries. The message he sent us was an automated response that the website automatically sends us if you visit the website. I called him anyway and he was actually interested. He knew nothing about our church or even how he got to the website. I sent all of his information to the local missionaries and within 2 days he was on date for baptism. Yay!     Our Mission split to the Laie Ha...
