Thanksgiving In Hawaii: Round 2.

Image
Aloha & Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I hope everyone had the best Thanksgiving surrounded by the ones you love most! After a traumatic experience last year (not actually traumatic) I am happy to announce Thanksgiving in Hawaii is the best! Because today is my p-day, I got to talk to family & eat with a family named the Hoagland's! They are originally from Kaysville but moved to Laie last year. They were the sweetest for having us over.  Because it's Thanksgiving it's only right if this email is full of what I am grateful for...  I'm thankful to be surrounded by sister missionaries who never cease to put a smile on my face. I'm thankful for my family who is so supportive of me & is always my biggest cheerleader!  I'm thankful for 'Seven Brothers'... their crazy fries know what's up!  I'm thankful for technology which helps me keep in touch with the ones I love most (all of you reading this, email me!!!)  I'm thankful for the Book...

Elder Bednar x3!!

Ok… Sunday was the best! Our mission had the opportunity to hear from Elder Bednar and it was so cool! They flew all of the missionaries from the outer Islands in and we had a big Mission Conference with everyone! The Honolulu, Hawaii Mission is one of the largest missions, with over 500 missionaries (including all of the Senior Couples) and we were all together inside the Stake Center listening to him. It was the first time in history that all of the Hawaii Missionaries were all together.     I was also able to listen to Elder Bednar earlier that morning because he spoke to all of the married students at their Stake Conference. It was so cool because even though he was speaking to the married students and it wasn't super applicable to my situation, the Spirit is able to teach you individually so I was able to learn so much.      To end Sunday, I was also able to attend the BYU Hawaii weekly devotional where Elder Bednar also spoke! 6 hours later of hearing from...

District Leader

Aloha Brother and Sister Crowley,    Your daughter, Sister Crowley, has continued to make excellent progress while serving here in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission.  Because of the great example of her teaching ability and the strength of her testimony, she has been called to the position of District Leader at the Laie Temple Visitors' Center.    We consider this to be an important call.  She will bless the lives of the other sister missionaries as she teaches them many skills and attitudes which will help them be effective teachers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.    May the Lord bless you for the support you give Sister Crowley.  It is a blessing to have her serving in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission.    Sincerely,    Elder Steven King Visitor's Center Director Hawaii Honolulu Mission

Trainer

Aloha Brother and Sister Crowley,     Your daughter, Sister Crowley, has continued to make excellent progress while serving in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission.  Because of the great example of her teaching ability and strength of her testimony, she has been called to be a Visitors' Center Trainer at the Laie Temple Visitors' Center.     The position of trainer only comes to missionaries who have demonstrated the highest level of trust, obedience, and diligence.  A new missionary's trainer sets the standard and establishes the framework for the entirety of the new missionary's mission experience.  We have every confidence in Sister Crowley and know that she will be a great blessing to her new companion, Sister .Violet Peterson.  It is a blessing to have her serving in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission.     Sincerely,     Elder Steven D. King, Director Laie Temple Visitors' Center Hawaii Honolulu Mission

Married Students!

Aloha Aloha Aloha!  It has been quite the week here in Hawaii! The subject of this email pertains to the ward that I am now serving in! We got transfer news last week and I have moved across town to be in the BYU Hawaii married student ward! It's so different than what I expected it to be! There are about 25 couples and we meet in a little multipurpose room on campus for church! When I first got put in the married student ward they said there are only 2 nonmembers in the whole stake. We are only in charge of one ward in the stake so there is nobody to teach other than just meeting with members and teaching/sharing messages with them. None of the couples reply to texts from the missionaries, so the only way you can contact them is if you just show up at their house and basically invite yourself in (sorry, not sorry). It is crazy how people don't care for the missionaries until you spend a little bit of time talking with them and getting to know them and then they want you ...
