Fake Missionary Work
Hello everybody!! It was another good week, lots of member appointments which stands for some pretty good stories!
We were driving home from church Sunday when the cute tahitian couple in our ward called us and she was freaking out saying "were so sorry we didn't talk to you after church, will you please come back on Tuesday and meet with us?" It was so sweet. We were able to meet with them again on Tuesday and they seem to love it when we come over! He is definitely more comfortable speaking French but wants to learn to pray better in English. It's crazy being in a ward with so many doffernt people from all over because everyone speaks another language, and most people only know a little bit of English.
Normally it's the missionaries trying to learn the language but it's the other way around here!
The next couple we met with was from China. They knew pretty good English though so that was great! When we walked in he has a brace on his wrist and we said "oh no what happened" he said "wellll you see in China we were on lock down for a really long time and I go really bored so I just played lots of video games... and I guess I played for too long and went a little too hard because I hurt my tendon and have to wear this for 6 weeks" hahahah
We gave a virtual tour to a huge youth group this week which was so fun! One of the leaders of the group used to serve here at the vc a couple of years ago with her husband and it was fun to have them help give the tour from back in utah.
Ok and one last story about our teaching center. When I first started my mission is met a guy who I then sent off to his local missionaries so he could continue to be taught. They have been teaching him for a few months and he was just put on date for baptism. I was looking through his record the other day and saw that the local missionary teaching him was elder Frasure... a good friend from high school. It was so cool to me that I know people who are all over the world but we are doing this same work together! He can attest that visitor center missionaries actually do "real missionary work"
"Anytime you do anything that helps anyone—on either side of the veil—take a step toward making covenants with God and receiving their essential baptismal and temple ordinances, you are helping to gather Israel. It is as simple as that”
SO COOL
&& we also got to hear from Elder Anderson at the BYU-Hawaii devotional so that was so cool!!
Oh, and someone came up to me at the temple and said "do you guys do any real missionary work?" that was a fun one, her intentions were in the right place!
With Much Love, Sister Crowley
